Here’s a quick follow-up on my project with the Civil Service FastStream detailed in my previous post. What I didn’t mention then, was that six of the group decided to sit the BCS Practitioner Certificate in Agile examination which is linked to the course.
We had been on an amazing journey together and so I really wanted to get them all successfully through the exam as well – for the extra bit of icing on the cake.
I remember being surprised at how time-pressured the exam was, especially since it is scenario-based and written short answer style and not multiple choice. There’s one Sample Paper with answers available online – but for me that wasn’t enough practice. I came out of the exam worried that I had failed, wondering if I had done enough. I aced it … but boy was it nerve wracking!
I wanted to bring my experience, tips and best practices together with the examiners’, while at the same time giving my group a chance to practice to time. To give the group an extra boost I wrote scenarios and questions to supplement the ones available online, for extra practice.
The feedback was phenomenal! And today I’m pleased to say that all 6 of my students passed – 3 with Distinctions. I danced around my living room when I got the news.
