It is my greatest pleasure to welcome Joanne Howes to the Diversity Dana team, and I’ll leave her to introduce herself to you in her own words.
Hello, I am Joanne and I’m a Consultant at Diversity Dana.
Welcome to the greatest website on the Internet!
I’m an Equality, Diversity & Inclusion advocate who passionately believes in the duty to create environments where people from all walks of life can thrive!
I have had a varied and exciting career as an Administrator & Event Co-ordinator in Television and Live Events for companies such as BBC, ITV & Audible By Amazon.
I was fortunate to work on Dragon’s Den, Britain’s Classroom Heroes, Glastonbury Festival, Reading Festival, among others. Visiting No 10 and meeting Stormzy, & Denzel Washington (his voice really is as amazing as it sounds) were pinch-me moments.
After witnessing and contributing to the challenging work that goes into the Creative industry, I realised the importance of wellbeing. I attained a Mental Health First Aid England Certification, giving support to colleagues experiencing mental health crises and issues. Observing the lack of diversity and inclusion furthered my desire and passion to discover the inner workings of Equality, Diversity & Inclusion and use my experiences to help others.
My passion and dedication to creating safe and Diverse & Inclusive spaces within my community & beyond led me to become a proud Havering B.M.E Forum Member. I look forward to immersing myself in their work and volunteering with their 2022 events.
The pandemic saw me pivot into the health sector advising the innumerable sufferers of Coronavirus. Helping thousands of people across the United Kingdom in their time of need is one of my greatest achievements. I also founded and delivered the Staff Mental Health Support Programme providing confidential advice, guidance, and support resources. I am now working in Occupational Health which I find very fulfilling and inspiring.
I’m SO THRILLED to be a part of Diversity Dana and to be collaborating on The Possibility Project. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to collaborate with esteemed people and contribute to telling the various rich stories of people in the Black Community long-term health conditions excelling in the world of work. I believe this project will live in hearts and minds of employees and employers for years to come, diversify the working landscape, and inspire many to follow their career dreams.
