It is my greatest pleasure to welcome Tracey Young to the Diversity Dana team, and I’ll leave her to introduce herself to you in her own words.
Hi! I’m Tracey, my pronouns are she-her, and I’m a Consultant here at Diversity Dana.
I’m an experienced HR practitioner having spent nearly two decades working in generalist HR roles – Woah, that’s a really long time!
Although my real passion lies in all things Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI).
I was furloughed in 2020, due to the pandemic, so I immersed myself in EDI by attending webinars and training, reading books and articles, and joining a voluntary equality advisory group. I also wrote and delivered EDI training to colleagues.
As well as EDI, I’m also committed to removing the stigma associated with mental ill health, especially as I have anxiety and panic myself. For too long I tried to conceal my mental health problems, but now I’ll happily speak openly about my experiences with anyone who’ll listen!
A mutual friend introduced me to Dana in early 2021, and she kindly took time to speak to me about how I could enhance my EDI learning journey. Fast-forward a year, and I’m lucky enough to be part of the Diversity Dana team – Yay!
Working with Dana is an incredible opportunity, and I can’t wait to help make a positive difference. In particular, I’m excited to support The Possibility Project which will showcase to employers and employees the stories of Black people with long-term conditions, including mental ill health and disabilities, who have forged successful careers and who aren’t just surviving, they’re thriving!
